This recipe easily doubles.
Cream together butter, sugar and molasses in a large bowl.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Sift flour, salt and soda into butter mixture and stir in.
Mix in chips and nuts.
TIP: The easiest way to chop nuts is to stick them in a heavy plastic bag (like a ziploc) and hammer them.
Drop by spoonfuls on to cookie sheet pretty far apart as they spread a lot.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 5-10 minutes. Watch the first batch closely to get the timing right.
Allow to cool on cookie sheet for about 1 minute before removing to rack to cool.
Allow to cool completly before storing.
